An Evening at the Preserve: Helping the Unhoused

Saturday, June 14th, 6 PM–9 PM (Rain Date: June 21st)

Come join us for an evening outside as Long Island Coalition for the Homeless and the Garden City Bird Sanctuary partner for this joint fundraiser, An Evening at the Preserve: Helping the Unhoused.

There will be the opportunity for a picnic, an optional guided nature walk, speakers, and the showing of a documentary. (See the Schedule for more information.) Seating is limited. If possible, bring your own chair / blanket.

Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH) and Garden City Bird Sanctuary (GCBS) are partnering for this joint fundraiser to bring awareness to the effects of homelessness in our community. There will be speakers from both LICH and GCBS, and you'll learn about the organizations, the great work they do, and ways to get involved. This event is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, and to also support a community nature preserve.

All funds raised go to support LICH and GCBS.

Register online or pay at the door. (Walk-ins are welcome, but registering now guarantees your spot. Additional fee for online tickets.)

Please consider bringing a donation of non-perishable food to help support the LICH pantry.

The goal of LICH is to end homelessness on Long Island through partnerships, policy, education, and direct assistance to those most in need. The mission of GCBS is to manage protected greenspace for environmental stewardship, research, education, and community services programs.

LICH and GCBS are certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

Admission:

  • $25 for Individuals
  • $40 for Families (Families consisting of 2 or more people only need to buy 1 Family Ticket for Admission)
  • $15 for Seniors

Schedule:

  • 6:00 PM – Picnic (Bring a chair / blanket and bring your own food to enjoy a picnic at the start of, or during, the event)
  • 6:30 PM – Nature Walk (Guided Walk for up to 30 people. Self-guided walks are also welcome!)
  • 7:00 PM – Speakers (The President of GCBS and the Executive Director of LICH will be speaking to tell you more about their respective organizations.)
